For Prevention, For Youth, For Life
Ireland has one of the highest reported death rates by suicide in the European Union.
Due to the huge increase in mental health issues since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic all funds raised from the Skydive for Life are going towards their Youth Crisis Counselling Service which will pay for fast, free, access to local counsellors and psychologists for young people in crisis or at immediate risk of suicide or self-harm.
Keith Doherty, who looks after Centum’s Mechanical division, will be taking part in the Skydive on Saturday 29th April.
”Suicide in Ireland is very close to home for a lot of people and I believe by raising awareness it can help organisations like YSPI tackle this on-going issue and get the help to people in need.
In recent times I myself have been directly impacted by the loss of a family member and friends to suicide. At the time, you will always think to yourself – ”what could I have done to prevent this?” Sometimes these things can be avoided but unfortunately in most cases there is nothing we can do, only continue to support charities, and hopefully give people a chance to speak to a friend, family member or professional”. – Keith Doherty
