New Years Resolutions That Will Help Make You a Better person

Need help coming up with good New Years resolutions? Well, Centum is here to give you some tips and suggestions that might help motivate and inspire you to turn over a new leaf, and January 2023 is as good a time as any! Check out our list of New Year’s resolutions that will help you make the most of 2023.

Buy Clothing and Tools that are Made to Last.

Start the New Year right by only supporting companies that make good products. Become a person of quality not quantity. Even from the smallest of purchase of socks to jackets and even wristwatches make sure that they are good quality and built to last.

Benefits: You will only need to buy an item of clothing once and it will do you years rather than buy cheap and replace every 6 months. Also try and buy local and help your local community and think about sustainable fashion as well.

Switch of your phone!

Try spending a day without looking at your phone, unplug the internet, go for a hike, read a book, stare at the clouds. Get a job with Centum and visit a new city! Try taking your face away from the screen and try and put it into the world around you.

Benefits: Reducing screen time frees up more time to connect with family and friends. Feeling connections with others can help ward off symptoms of stress, depression, and anxiety. We often miss out on the fun and beauty that is happening all around us because of screens.

Do Something Healthy.

Whether that is getting a gym membership, trying a new sport or even going for a walk. Exercising can help ease your mind and rejuvenate your body. Working out will make you feel great and boost your confidence.

Benefits: Regular physical activity is one of the easiest ways to reduce your risk for chronic disease and to improve your quality of life. But most people do not move enough. No matter your age or ability, you can choose to move more for better health.

Eat Out Less. Cook More REAL Food.

We understand that after a hard day out on site the last thing you want to do is cook but the alternative is fast food and stuff incredibly unhealthy and makes you feel like crap. Follow the likes of ‘Bored of Lunch’ on Instagram for healthy, quick and easy recipes. Cooking real food takes time, effort and skill, but you’ll be a better, healthier person for doing it.

Benefits: Together with exercise, eating a healthy diet in the right proportions can also help you lose weight, lower your cholesterol levels and blood pressure and decrease your risk of type 2 diabetes.

Read More Books.

We all know for a fact that reading is good for you. Studies have shown that leafing through a book can be up to 600% more efficient in relieving stress than playing a video game. So, make this year all about a healthy body and mind!

Benefits: Each book that you read is an opportunity to learn something new. You can expand your vocabulary, train your brain, increase wellness, lower stress, and discover something new about yourself.

Go Somewhere New.

This is an easy resolution to make, but one that is harder to keep. Traveling can be expensive and going somewhere new can be daunting. But the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, because travelling lets you see different cultures, see different landscapes and you learn more about yourself as a person. If you do want to want to travel for work why not check out our careers page below and see if we can help make this New Years resolution a reality.

Benefits: Traveling the world isn’t just fun and exciting; there’s ample research to suggest it’s highly beneficial for your physical, mental and emotional health as well.

Check Something Off Your Bucket List.

Put a bucket list together and make sure you check something off it this year. Doing things you enjoy can make you feel energized and more relaxed at the same time, and help to keep burnout at bay.

Benefits: When you make a list of all the things you’d like to do, this activity may be a springboard to becoming more aware of what’s really important to you.

Sleep More.

You’re not sleeping enough. Go sleep. Then, when you think you’ve slept enough, go take a nap. You need the rest.

Benefits: When your body gets the sleep it needs, your immune cells and proteins get the rest they need to fight off whatever comes their way — like colds or the flu.

Save More Money.

It’s so easy to take all your money and throw it away at the pub, expensive clothing, bad tattoos, and delicious food. This year, be more mindful of your spending, and conserve a bit. Saving £50 a week over the span of a whole year will give you over £2,500 in savings to do whatever you want with.

Benefits: First and foremost, saving money is important because it helps protect you in the event of a financial emergency. Additionally, saving money can help you pay for large purchases, avoid debt, reduce your financial stress, leave a financial legacy, and provide you with a greater sense of financial freedom.
